Terms and Conditions of Enrolment

1. What this document is

These terms are the contract between you and the College for the Foundation Diploma. They contain the pre-contract information required by the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, and promises that bind the College under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. You receive them before the contract is made — before you sign, and before any money is taken — together with the syllabus (version 3.2) and the Fees and Refunds Policy. Read all three. If these terms and the Fees and Refunds Policy ever differ, the reading more favourable to you applies.

2. The parties

The College. International Islamic College, Leicester — an independent college founded in October 2025, TBCLEGAL-FORM-TBC — state the College's legal form, e.g. 'a company limited by guarantee, registered in England and Wales, no. …'. Contact: 07436 436363 · info@theiic.uk · theiic.uk · postal address TBCCOLLEGE-POSTAL-ADDRESS-TBC. The College alone is responsible for the Programme, this contract, your money, your data and the award. Masjid Fida, 9 Osmaston Road, Leicester LE5 5JN, is the venue partner that hosts the sessions; it is not a party to this contract.

The student. You — a brother or sister aged 16 or over on 1 September 2026, able to read the Qur'an fluently in Arabic script, with a place confirmed after a short conversation with the teacher.

Under-18s. Where the student is 16 or 17, a parent or guardian signs alongside the student (section 12) and gives written consent to attendance.

The contract is made on the day the College confirms your place in writing and you — and, for an under-18, your parent or guardian — sign these terms.

3. What the College promises

The College will deliver the Programme as described in the syllabus, version 3.2, with reasonable care and skill:

• three taught evenings a week — Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 8.00–9.00pm — at Masjid Fida, from Monday 21 September 2026 to Friday 16 July 2027: 32 teaching weeks plus a four-week Ramaḍān Circle, 100 contact hours in all;
• the published curriculum: the creed texts, al-Fiqh al-Muyassar, the Forty of an-Nawawī, the abridged Tafsīr Ibn Kathīr on Juzʾ ʿAmma, Arabic Level 1, the Leadership Labs and the capstone community evening;
• marked assessment with feedback under the published scheme, and the Diploma ceremony in the week of 12 July 2027.

Seating and delivery follow the masjid's practice; the sessions on personal fiqh are taught separately to brothers and sisters.

4. The award, honestly described

The Diploma is graded Pass (50%+), Merit (65%+) or Distinction (80%+); the memorisation component must be passed in every case. Sitting the summer examination series — the third-term papers and the Arabic Level 1 written and oral examinations — is optional, but the Diploma is awarded only to students who sit and pass it; a student who chooses not to enter receives, without charge, a transcript of the year's study and marks, not the Diploma (the examination fee is in section 6). The award is earned, never bought: fees pay for teaching and assessment, not for the certificate. The Foundation Diploma is the College's own award. The College is independent: the award is not a regulated qualification, is not accredited, and carries no university credit.

5. What you agree to

• Fees. Pay the fees in section 6 on time.
• Attendance. Attend at least 90% of sessions. Parents of under-18s are told of every absence.
• The ādāb of the ḥalaqah. Phones away, the teacher and companions honoured, the room left better than it was found.
• Directed study. Around 45–60 minutes a day, one short written assignment a week, and a structured essay each term.
• Honesty. All assessed work is your own; recitation and examinations are sat in person.

6. Fees and payment

Tuition is £40 a month for the eleven months September 2026 to July 2027 inclusive — £440 in total. The end-of-year examination fee is £50, paid in the summer term when you enter the summer examination series (section 4): £490 for the year including the Diploma examination, plus books. The examination fee is refunded in full if you withdraw before sitting, or if the College cancels the sitting. There is no enrolment or registration fee and no other compulsory charge. The class book bundle is charged separately, at cost; its price is TBCTBC — announced before the Programme starts. Payment method: TBCTBC — bank standing order expected; the College never takes card details by phone. Monthly and total price are always stated together; neither rises during the year.

7. Your right to cancel — the 14-day cooling-off period

You may cancel this contract within 14 days of the day after the day it is made, without giving any reason. Send a clear statement — a letter or an email to info@theiic.uk — before the period ends; the model form in section 11 may be used but is not obligatory. Everything you have paid is refunded without undue delay and no later than 14 days after you tell us, to the account it came from. If the Programme begins inside your cooling-off period at your written request, a cancellation within the period refunds everything except a fair proportionate amount for the sessions already delivered.

8. Leaving after the cooling-off period

Monthly billing keeps this simple. You may withdraw at any time by writing to info@theiic.uk. You owe nothing beyond the month in progress; billing stops at the end of that month; and any months paid in advance that have not yet begun are refunded in full, within 14 days.

9. Changes the College may make

The College may make small timetable changes — a room, a swapped evening within Monday to Wednesday, a rescheduled session — with as much notice as possible. During Ramaḍān the three weekly evenings become the four-week Ramaḍān Circle: one tafsīr session a week, day and time announced in January so it does not clash with tarāwīḥ. The Circle is part of the published design, not a variation. The College does not change the price, or the substance of the Programme, without your written agreement.

10. How the contract ends

A written safeguarding statement naming Ustādh Emran Ahmed, the Programme's safeguarding lead, and setting out the independent route for any concern that involves the lead/teacher himself — the Academic Lead's confidential contact, the Leicester City LADO, the NSPCC or the police, never info@theiic.uk or 07436 436363 — is given to every student, and to the parents of under-18s, before the first session.

Complaints and appeals. Complaints about the Programme or the teacher, and academic appeals, go to Shaykh ʿAbd al-Ḥaqq at-Turkmānī, Academic Lead and co-founder of the College, who is independent of the teaching of this Programme. Appeals lie on procedural grounds only — scholarly and academic judgement is not appealable. Complaining never disadvantages your assessment.

Data. The College is the data controller. Names, dates of birth, parent contacts and assessment records are held for the Programme only; nothing goes to the masjid beyond what safety requires. Your data is held, and then deleted, in line with the College Privacy Notice, whose retention table forms part of these terms: the minimal award record (name, dates, marks, final award) is kept permanently so the College can verify your Diploma, financial and safeguarding records are kept for their statutory periods, and everything else is deleted within 12 months of the end of the Programme. Safeguarding records and the minimal award register cannot be deleted early on request.

Governing law. This contract is governed by the law of England and Wales, and you may bring any claim in its courts. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

• Naturally, when the year ends and any award is conferred.
• By you, under section 7 or 8.
• By the College withdrawing your place, only for persistent breach of the ādāb after discussion (for an under-18, discussed with parents first), for unpaid fees after reminders and an offer to talk, or on safeguarding grounds. Section 8 then governs the money.
• By the College cancelling the Programme. You are billed nothing further, receive a pro-rata refund covering all teaching paid for but not delivered, and any examination fee you have paid is refunded in full.

12. Signatures

The enrolment form carries two signature blocks. Every student signs the first: name, date of birth, signature and date, confirming they have received these terms, the syllabus (v3.2) and the Fees and Refunds Policy, and agree to them. For a student aged 16 or 17 a parent or guardian completes the second: name, relationship to the student, contact details, signature and date — giving written consent to attendance, agreeing to these terms alongside the student, taking responsibility for the fees, and acknowledging they will be told of every absence. The parent's block also records: an emergency contact; any medical or access information the parent wants the College to know (optional); and the going-home election — whether the student is collected by a parent or a named adult, or travels home alone with the parent's written permission. The safeguarding lead holds the going-home permissions list from the first session.

The form also carries an optional declaration, ticked and signed separately from the signature blocks: "I expressly request the College to begin the Programme during my 14-day cancellation period. I understand that if I then cancel within that period, I will pay an amount proportionate to the teaching delivered before I cancelled, and nothing more."
