Institute of Arabic Language
Classical & Modern Standard Arabic
A structured path from foundational grammar (nahw & sarf) to fluency in classical and modern Arabic, equipping students to access primary Islamic texts directly.
This is not a conversation course. Naḥw and ṣarf are taught here as tools, and the thing they are tools for is reading: opening a page of tafsīr or fiqh and understanding why the sentence means what it means, rather than trusting that the translation got it right.
The path runs from the Madinah method through al-Ājurrūmiyyah and into the primary texts themselves, with balāghah later, once grammar is no longer the obstacle. It is slower than a language app and it goes somewhere an app does not.
The institute has no standalone course open at present. Arabic is being taught right now as a strand of the Foundation Diploma — Monday evenings, Madinah Book 1 across twenty-four of the year's thirty-two Arabic sessions, then an introduction to al-Ājurrūmiyyah, with a written and oral examination at Level 1 in July and the level named on the certificate.
